When applied to the skin: Poinsettia is possibly unsafe. In some people, it can cause skin rash, eye irritation, and irritation or burns to the mouth.
Poinsettia used to be considered a poisonous plant. However, recent studies indicate that the plant is less toxic than once believed. Most of these effects were related to skin irritation.
